“The Wind Palace” - Jaipur’s Hawa Mahal
Hawa Mahal is translated “The Wind Palace”. Built in 1799 by the Maharaja for the royal ladies, this narrow palace boasts 953 lattice windows which allow wind to push through the halls, creating a naturally air conditioned salon where the ladies could discretely observe street life below while tucked away from the public eye.
